S.S. Stewart Universal Favorite #1 11" Spun German Silver Open Back Banjo 1890-94 w/Boulder Padded Gig Bag

Remarkably preserved and eminently playable after about 130 years of clearly careful home use, this increasingly rare Philadelphia, PA-crafted S.S. Stewart Universal Favorite #1 11" open back banjo boasts the balanced, resonant projection of its original spun German Silver 11" rim, the instantly familiar feel of a 1 1/4" nut width cherry neck with low, even action across an inlaid ebony fingerboard, and a session-ready 27" scale. Tasteful, spare inlay work, an era-correct carved tailpiece, and recent professional setup/head replacement makes this S.S. Stewart an inspired find for collectors and players alike.
