Lovingly handcrafted by Oak Park, IL-based luthier Adam Krefman from March to July 2022, this visually compelling and eminently playable 10 3/4" rim, 25 1/3" scale open back banjo boasts the notably balanced, saturated response of Midwestern Black Cherry partially sourced from the Chicago area, paired perfectly with the crisp, warm articulation of a Chicago-sourced Osage Orange tone ring.
Low, even action across a Florida Southern Live Oak fingerboard ("live" surface pictured at top of headstock) with a 1 1/4" nut offers a silky hardwood response, similar in feel to ebony or rosewood. With a custom cast bronze tension hoop designed by the builder and cast in Broadview, IL and a genuine goat skin head responsibly prepared by Jeff Menzies in Jamaica, this genuinely inspired instrument is more than ready for any live or studio session.
